Gemstone of the Month: SEPTEMBER – SAPPHIRE

Most commonly known for its shades of blue, sapphire comes in almost every color except red (exclusive to sister ruby). Sapphire is the second hardest gemstone next to diamond, making it ideal for any type of jewelry, most commonly rings. The purer the color the natural sapphire is the higher value it can have. In addition to color, the origin of the gemstone plays a large factor in value. The most valuable sapphires are from Kashmir, Burma & Sri Lanka (Ceylon)

Sapphire tends to be a popular choice for brides who are looking for a non-traditional diamond ring. It is a symbol of sincerity and brightens the true inner beauty of those who wear it. Sapphire is believed to inspire peace, prosperity, good health & well-being.

Although natural unheated sapphires are available, they are typically improved by traditional heating methods to intensify color and/or advance clarity. To best clean a sapphire, use soapy water or a commercial solvent and a brush. Ask us for any further specific details regarding the enrichments & care of your sapphire.
